More Free Programs!!!
KOffice has many diffrent free office type programs. Karbon14 was recently featured on The Screen Savers as an alternative for Adobe Illustrator.
AbiWord was also featured on TSS as an alternative to MS Word.
7-Zip is an alternative program that will allow you to use zip, rar, and other compression files.
IZArc is another alternate program to WinZip or WinRAR. This was featured on today's episode of TSS.
GIMP has been around for a while and I've known of it as a Photoshop replacement for Linux. This also is made for Mac and Windows too. Check it out for photo editing needs.
LinuxISO is a great site where you can download ISO files of many popular linux distributions. ISO files are images that can be burnt to cd with many burning programs such as nero. If you're interested in trying linux but don't want to get rid of windows, try Knoppix. Knoppix boots directly from cd and will not effect your current windows install.
Audacity is an open source audio editor. It has many good features and supports many diffrent file types.
TightVNC is an open source remote desktop program that will allow you to work at one computer while sitting at another.
Firefox is not only free but the best web browser out there. If you don't have this yet you need to download it. There is no reason not to and you'll never use IE again. You can also try ThunderBird as an alternate to Outlook or Outlook Express.
